child of nature is an EP intended to nurture the child within and draws on the influences from the Rolio May's book "Courage to Create". The EP also takes its essence from electronic and ambient music with essences of music concrete, combining the spoken work sung chorus, with the use of Logic as the Digital Audio workstation.
The EP explores the wounded place which exists for many of us, the place the frightened child lives, which manifests in a Jungian term called a 'complex'. A splitting takes place resulting in clinging to, or running away from, relationships and a forgetting of who we really are, a forgetting of our own identity. Unconscious forms and sometimes puzzling behaviour can result, as such our personality potential is determined by those childhood expressions. The album for me is a journey to wholeness, exploring resolution and the pursuit of psychological integration, developing character and a strong sense of who we are, through the route of creative expression and the medium of music.
taking its theme from Nordic mythology the tracks aim to create a journey to connect to the child within, through myth, which takes influences from the mythologist Joseph Campbell.
Freya is a track about connection with the child through the energy of the warrior Nordic Freya Goddess Freya, Queen of the Valkyries. Odin is a track about connection to the hero within through the pursuit of knowledge, journeying with the energy of the Ravine Nordic God Odin. Thor is a track about comforting and protection of the innocence, the child within, connecting with the elements of nature and facing fear, with the protection of the energy of the Nordic God Thor.
